Common Hand Conditions We Treat

We treat many issues that affect how your hands feel and function. These conditions may come from injury, overuse, or long-term wear and tear.

Tendonitis and Tendon Injuries

Tendonitis happens when tendons in the hand become swollen or irritated. This can make movements painful and difficult. Treatment may include rest, hand therapy, or a steroid injection to reduce swelling. If pain continues, a tendon release procedure may help by freeing the tight tendon.

Tendon injuries, like a torn tendon, often require surgery. The tendon is carefully repaired to restore strength and movement. After surgery, therapy helps improve motion and recovery.

Dupuytren’s Disease and Fasciectomy

Dupuytren’s disease causes a cord to form under the skin of your palm. Over time, it pulls fingers into a bent position. A fasciectomy is the surgery used to remove that tight cord. After surgery, you can usually move your fingers better.

Tumors or Cysts in the Hand or Wrist

Growths in the hand or wrist, like ganglion cysts or benign tumors, are common. If painful or bothersome, we can remove them safely.

We also treat neuromas, which are balls of scar tissue that form around injured nerves. These can cause sharp pain, tingling, or sensitivity. Treatment may include removing the neuroma, wrapping it in healthy tissue, or repairing the nerve directly. Dr. Jenq will guide you through the best option based on your symptoms and exam.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome makes your fingers tingle or feel numb. It happens when a nerve in your wrist gets squeezed. We treat it with a procedure called carpal tunnel release. This creates more space for the nerve and helps relieve your symptoms.

Hand Fractures

Fractures in the hand can happen suddenly and affect your ability to grip or move. Some breaks heal well with a splint. Others may need surgery to set the bones and make sure they heal straight.

Where We Perform Hand Procedures

Some smaller procedures are done right in our clinic. These include removing small growths. However, most surgeries take place in the operating room. We’ll always explain your options and help you choose the best plan.
