Questions
Breast augmentation revision FAQ
Answers from Dr. Jenq.
What can revision surgery fix?
Common fixes are an implant exchange for a different size or type, removing or loosening scar tissue to treat capsular contracture, and internal sutures or mesh to support the implant’s shape or position.
Can I switch to smaller implants?
Yes. If your breasts feel too large and sag, smaller implants can help you feel more proportional.
Where is the incision?
Most revisions use a small incision in the fold under the breast, which gives good access to the implant pocket and keeps the scar discreet.
Will I need a drain?
Usually not. Most patients don’t need a drain during recovery.
How long is recovery?
About 1 week off work or regular activities. Many patients find it less uncomfortable than their original augmentation.
