Body Contouring Surgery in Portland: Brachioplasty and Thighplasty for a Smoother, Fitter You

Loose skin on the arms or thighs can feel frustrating. Body contouring surgery helps restore smoother, more balanced limb shape.

What Are Brachioplasty and Thighplasty?

Brachioplasty (arm lift) and thighplasty (thigh lift) remove excess skin and fat to create firmer, more sculpted upper and lower limbs.

Who Might Consider Body Contouring?

These procedures are ideal if you’ve lost significant weight or struggle with loose skin on the arms or thighs.

Why I Use Liposuction with Arm and Thigh Lifts

I routinely augment brachioplasty and thighplasty with liposuction. This offers three important benefits:

  • Reduces the risk of seroma

  • Lowers the chance of nerve injury

  • Improves the final contour of the arm or leg

In addition, liposuction helps shape the transition zones between treated and untreated areas, creating smoother results.

What About the Scar?

For those with moderate to severe excess skin, the scar may need to extend the length of the inner arm or thigh. I always aim to place scars in discreet areas to minimize visibility in daily life.

What to Expect After Surgery

Your recovery will be closely supported with clear steps to help you heal confidently and comfortably.

Compression

For the first few days, you’ll wear an ACE wrap for gentle compression. After that, you’ll transition to a custom compression sleeve worn for four weeks to reduce swelling and support healing.

Pain Management

Most people use prescription pain medication for the first 5 days. Some mild soreness may last up to 1 month, which is completely normal.

Activity Level

You may begin light exercise like walking just two days after surgery. However, avoid heavy lifting or intense workouts until we clear you.

Scar Care for Beautiful Results

Once your incisions are healed, we’ll begin scar care to improve the final appearance.

I recommend silicone sheeting, like Aroamas, worn for at least 10 hours a day for several months. In addition, gentle scar massage helps soften the tissue and support healthy remodeling.

You’re in Caring Hands

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have several procedures at the same time?

Sometimes, it may be possible to undergo a combined procedure such as arm and breast lift at the same time. However, a breast reduction and tummy tuck or lower body lift may best be done at separate times to enhance patient safety and decrease your risk of complications after surgery. The timing and combination that works best is individualized for each patient based upon your consultation with Dr. Jenq.

How long should I wait after weight loss to have body contouring?

That’s such a great and important question. The timing of body contouring after weight loss plays a big role in getting the best and longest-lasting results. In general, I recommend waiting until your weight has been stable for at least 6 months. This gives your body time to adjust and allows us to better assess where you truly have excess skin versus areas where fat may still shift. More importantly, it gives you time to find a sustainable rhythm—a balance of nutrition, movement, and lifestyle that supports long-term health. Body contouring is not a finish line—it’s a milestone. For the best outcomes, your body should be in a place of equilibrium, where you’re no longer actively losing weight and you’ve developed habits you can maintain over time. For many patients, especially those who’ve had difficulty losing weight through diet and exercise alone, GLP-1 medications (like semaglutide or tirzepatide) have been incredibly helpful. These medications can jumpstart weight loss and, more importantly, help people reset their relationship with hunger and food. When paired with behavioral changes and support, they can be part of a powerful, long-term strategy for health. Whether your weight loss happened through lifestyle changes, medications, or surgery, my role is to meet you where you are, support your goals, and help your outer shape reflect the strength and discipline you’ve already shown. When you feel ready—and your weight has stabilized—I’d be honored to help you take that next step.
